Pizza is on everyones list of favorites (unless you’re dumb. Only dumb people don’t like pizza). With the main ingredients of cheese, sauce and bread with the addition of anything your heart desires; the combos are endless.
Vancouver kills the pizza by the slice scene, Calgary had nothing compared to the options we have here with sometimes 4 or 5 different establishments on one street.
But what about gourmet pizza?
We hit up Carano on Fraser and throughout the whole meal we barely spoke. It wasn’t because of the wicked jams pouring out the speakers, but because that shit was so good I didn’t want to stop shoveling it into my oversized mouth.
We went with their serrano ham pizza that had white sauce, caramelized onions, Serrano ham, pistachios and we put truffle oil on it. The innovative ingredient combinations that go together perfectly are to die for, and the crust is in a league of it’s own. And OMG the bruchetta!!! I can’t even start..
Try it. Just try it.
As we were snarffing down every last morsel, the chef was also concocting new creations in the kitchen. He was kind enough to hook us up with a couple pieces of a broccoli and beef jerky pizza.. Insane? Yes. Delicious? Fuck yes.
